BEACH VOLLEYBALL COURT - DIMENSIONS
However, let's start with theoretical knowledge. The professional beach volleyball court has dimensions of 16 x 8 meters. But don’t worry - if you don't have that much space on the plot you can confidently reduce it. Remember not to overdo it though - every player needs some freedom on the field. A free zone is added to the dimensions of the court. The regulations say that it should be about 5 meters on each side. It will keep your game safe.
HOW TO MAKE A BEACH VOLLEYBALL COURT?
Building a beach volleyball court is trivially easy! Below is a step-by-step guide to creating a play space for you and your loved ones.
SELECT A PLACE
It all starts with place. This choice is crucial and affects the game in the future. Do you prefer beach volleyball courts in full sun or rather shaded? Think about it calmly, taking into account from which side the sun shines - the place must be set so that, if possible, the sun's rays do not glare at the players' eyes.
ENSURE THAT THE TERRAIN IS LEVEL
The beach volleyball court must be levelled. If you're not 100% sure about it, you can use a laser level to clear your doubts very quickly.
LAY DOWN NONWOVEN CROP COVER
If you already have a site selected and levelled for a beach volleyball court, it's time to start building. On its surface make an indentation of about 30-40 cm and put the nonwoven crop cover, which will protect the pitch from weeds and the mixing of applied sand with the original ground.
SELECTION OF BEACH VOLLEYBALL POSTS
No game without beach volleyball posts! The best choices are those with infinitely adjustable net height. They should be fixed to the ground behind the line of playing field, preferably within 1 meter. It is good to choose those that are fixed in sleeves - this is the best and failure-free mechanism.
DROP SAND
Sand for a beach volleyball court must have the right properties. The best will be the sea sand found on natural beaches. How much you'll need depends on the dimensions of your pitch. Typically, tens to even hundreds of tons of sand are needed.
MARK THE LINES
Once you have the posts and sand on your beach volleyball court, then you can get busy marking out the playing area. Special lines will help you in this task. They must be sturdy and contrast with the colour of the ground.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL NET
Beach volleyball net must be professional. To a large extent, safety on the playing field also depends on it. It is important that it is 8.5 meters long and 1 meter wide, and its mesh is 10cm x 10cm squares. How high you sling it depends on who is playing on the field - women or men. For women, the top edge of the grid should reach 2.24 meters, and for men, 2.43 meters.
