A BRIEF HISTORY OF HANDBALL

The sport itself, which is handball, originated as far back as Ancient Greece. It was in those days that the games called Urania were very popular. But where did the interest in this sport come from in Poland? The beginnings of the handball game date back to 1917, to the village of Szczypiorno, which is now located in Kalisz. According to history, it was the officers of the Polish Legions that initiated this discipline - they probably watched it from German soldiers. That's why Polish handball players are often called szczypiorniści (from the name of the town).
