BASKETBALL EQUIPMENT - IDEAL TRAINING EQUIPMENT

2023-01-12

Basketball is one of the more popular team games and an all-around sport that is great for recreational play. Reaching a high level, however, requires painstaking honing of technique. Find out what equipment is useful for basketball training and how to choose it.

BASKETBALL EQUIPMENT - BASIC ELEMENTS

In order to play basketball, basically only two elements are necessary - the ball and the basket. Their proper selection is therefore very important. There are rims, nets or boards alone, as well as whole sets available on the market. The method of attachment is also very important. When buying basic basketball equipment, it's always a good idea to check that it complies with FIBA regulations. This confirms the conformity of dimensions and other details according to the official rules of the discipline. Individual components are usually chosen because of where they are installed and how they will be used. What should you know about the most important basketball equipment?

Basketball rims

For rims, it is worth investing in a model with a tilting mechanism. Ideally, the rim can bend in all directions and immediately return to its original position. You should also check that the mount is compatible with the type of board you have chosen. It is best to choose a rim with a universal mount.

FLEXI TILTING BASKETBALL RIM

Nets for rims

Rim nets are most often made of plastic (such as polypropylene strings), which are very durable and resistant to damage. Net made of corrosion-protected chains is designed for outdoor use. A good choice may be to choose a net with anti-whip technology, which prevents it from getting tangled around the rim.

Basketball backboards

Basketball backboards can be made of various materials. The most aesthetically pleasing are those made of tempered glass or acrylic glass. Epoxy fibre boards are also very practical. In addition, there are boards made of steel trusses usually designed for use on outdoor playing fields.

Basket fixing - structures

Structures for fixing baskets are also extremely diverse. In gymnasiums, wall-mounted models are usually used. They are often folded or lifted, which is extremely useful in spaces used for various disciplines. Boards attached to wall bars are also available. Another solution is underfloor structures. However, professional halls usually use overrun structures. Models suitable for outdoor use are also available. A separate category is special structures for street basketball, which are mobile, stable and very durable.

PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL CONSTRUCTION

Basketballs

Basketballs usually have an outer layer made of rubber with microscopic indentations. They are traditionally orange and covered with distinctive lines dividing the surface into 8 panels. However, they are sometimes available in other colours as well. A key factor when choosing a ball is its size. Size 7 is the most popular, used in FIBA competitions. The exception is the women's competition, which uses size 6 balls. For training children up to age 11, size 5 balls are recommended, while size 3 is suitable for the youngest (up to age 8).

EFFECTIVE BASKETBALL TRAINING - WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED?

"Serious" basketball is a game based on technique, strategy and precision. Achieving a high level requires not only painstaking training in throwing, but also coordination, agility, speed or strength. During training you will certainly need:

• cones - necessary, for example, when learning to move with the ball and evade opponents,

• training ladders - allowing to train the fast footwork necessary on the field,

• "markers” t-shirts - useful when playing split into teams,

• hurdles - allowing to conduct coordination training.

In addition, when playing games (including practice games), a clock measuring the time of the game and the time of the action (the team loses the ball if there is no basket throw after 24 seconds) will be necessary. A numerator or other tool to control the result is also useful. In addition, you can get yourself foul indicators to help control this factor.

BALL CART

Very useful accessories are also ball carts that facilitate their safe storage and convenient transportation. Ball nets, which are lightweight, flexible, durable and very capacious (they can hold up to a dozen balls), can also perform excellently. Racks are also very useful in the hall. The balls are lined up on them in rows and are therefore easier to access. This can be important, for example, when practising throwing and time competitions. Some of the ball racks are equipped with wheels, making it easy to transport them to the hall and to the storage area.

When choosing training equipment, it is always worth paying attention to quality. Each item should have safety approvals. Looking for professional basketball equipment? Check out our offer.
