MIRRORS FOR A GYMNASIUM - HOW SHOULD YOU SELECT THEM?

2023-08-22

Gym mirrors are extremely important equipment for fitness rooms, dance classes, etc. However, they are also useful in gymnasiums, especially in the free weights area. This is because they help control posture and the way movements are made. Learn how to select the right wall mirrors for your gymnasium.

WHAT SHOULD GYM MIRRORS LOOK LIKE?

Gym mirrors make it easier to perform exercises properly. Thus, they increase the comfort and safety of those exercising. During group activities, they also make it easier for instructors to monitor all participants and correct any mistakes. In order to perform their functions properly, they must, most importantly, be large. They are usually installed across the entire width of the wall. It is not uncommon for them to extend from the very floor to the ceiling. However, it is also possible to install them 10-20 cm above the floor level. Their height, on the other hand, is usually at least 200 cm. As a result, they show the whole silhouette of the person exercising. Mirrors for the gymnasium are most often ordered to size. This allows them to be perfectly tailored to the needs of the specific premises.

In some places, it is reasonable to use wall mirrors for gyms with additional elements, such as single or double handrails. They are used in dance classes, especially ballet classes. Handrails attached directly to the wall with a mirror installed make it easy to practice dance techniques while controlling the movements and the figure.

GYM MIRRORS - DURABILITY IS KEY

Gym mirrors require special characteristics that distinguish them from “ordinary mirrors.” One of such characteristics, durability, is very important. After all, at a gym or dance hall, there is a high risk of hitting a mirror. It must therefore be effectively protected against breaking. In gyms, mirrors with increased resistance to damage are installed - some can even resist ball impact!

To make exercise safe, wall mirrors for gyms are also thick enough and attached to a particleboard with special elastic double-sided tape. Such an attachment method is the safest. It also allows several sheets of glass to be installed side by side so that they form one even surface with virtually no gaps. Mirrors for gyms are also made of so-called safety glass, so that even if they are broken, the splinters do not spread inside the room.

WALL MIRRORS FOR GYMNASIUMS - PERFECT REPRODUCTION

To enable precise monitoring of exercises, gym mirrors must provide perfect reproduction of the image and reflection of light. Therefore, only dedicated mirrors of the highest quality should be used in sports facilities. Professional gym mirrors have even surfaces and can be joined almost “seamlessly,” so they do not distort the reflection in any way.

TYPES OF MIRRORS FOR THE GYM

Wall-mounted mirrors for gymnasiums are by far the most popular, but ladder-mounted mirrors are also available. They have special handles that allow them to be hung on standard gym ladders. This makes it possible to quickly adapt the room to the required use and use one space for different purposes.

In addition, gym mirrors can be divided into ordinary and posturographic mirrors. Posturographic mirrors have a special grid that allows accurate tracking of all postural irregularities. As a result, they facilitate effective therapeutic evaluation of the person exercising. They come in wall-mounted and ladder-mounted versions. This allows them to be tailored to individual needs.

HOW TO SELECT GYM MIRRORS - SUMMARY

Gym mirrors are indispensable in dance, general exercise, and corrective gymnastics rooms. They are also useful for all kinds of group exercises and weight-lifting rooms. How should you select them? Particular attention should be paid to:

• type - in many places, ordinary gym mirrors are excellent, but posturographic mirrors provide even more accurate posture control;

• quality of workmanship - mirrors for a gym must provide perfect image reproduction and light reflection;

• mounting method - gym mirrors should be glued to the wall or attached to gym ladders;

• safety - only mirrors with higher resistance to mechanical damage and made of so-called safety glass should be installed in sports facilities;

• additional solutions - in some places (especially dance rooms), mirrors with a single or double exercise bar work best.

Properly selected gym mirrors make the space not only more attractive, but, more importantly, safer, as they make it easier to perform exercises correctly. Be sure to choose only equipment designed for sports from a reputable supplier!
